Water Tank Waterproofing

Potable-water-approved cementitious and epoxy linings for concrete tanks, reservoirs and GRP replacement.

Overview

How we approach it

Water tank waterproofing relines the inside of a concrete tank with a potable-approved coating so it neither leaks water out nor lets contamination in. Any concrete tank showing damp patches below it, water loss, or an aging lining is a candidate.

Water tanks fail in two directions: they leak water out, and they let contamination in. In KSA's climate a leaking roof tank also feeds damp into the structure below it, which is why tank problems often show up first as ceiling stains on the top floor.

We reline concrete tanks with Sika® systems approved for contact with drinking water — cementitious coatings such as Sikalastic® / SikaTop® Seal for flexible crack-bridging protection, and Sikagard® epoxy linings where a hard, cleanable, chemically resistant surface is required. Before lining, we repair spalls and honeycombing with SikaTop® repair mortars and seal joints and pipe penetrations properly, because a lining over a bad substrate is a short-lived lining.

Works are planned around your water supply schedule — tanks are cleaned, repaired, lined, cured and disinfected with minimum downtime.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is tank waterproofing safe for drinking water?

Yes — we exclusively use Sika linings certified for potable water contact, both cementitious and epoxy types. After application and full curing, the tank is cleaned and disinfected before refilling. We provide the material certificates with handover so your municipality or facility auditor has the documentation.

How long does water tank waterproofing take?

A typical residential or commercial concrete tank takes 3–7 days: draining and cleaning, structural repairs, lining application, then curing before disinfection and refill. Curing time is the fixed part — rushing it is what makes linings fail. We schedule around your water needs and can advise on temporary supply.

Why does my water tank keep leaking after repairs?

Usually because previous repairs treated the surface, not the structure: hairline cracks keep moving, joints were painted over rather than sealed, or the lining was applied to a damp, unprepared surface. Our approach repairs cracks and joints structurally first, then applies a flexible crack-bridging lining — sequence is everything.
